I have never met a person that obviously lost a lot of weight over a long period of time and told me, “I’ve been on this diet for two years now!” That’s because diets are temporary. I know this because I’ve done them. Ninety day programs, cleanses, fasts, etc. and they all have one thing in common and that is that they are temporary. To be honest, I sort of expected the same when I started out moving to a paleo style way of eating. And BOY was I wrong. For the first time, I am not checking the time to see when I can eat again, I have more energy, the weight is coming off and I am getting in better shape than I have ever been in (thanks to adding in exercising and working out).
I have been on this journey now for just over three months and in no way feel like, “I did it!” Because I am far from being finished. This started as a goal of fitting into my favorite tan pants (which I did in two months!) and has turned into much more. I am so thrilled with my results (down 17 pounds and 4 inches from my waist) and look forward to where this leads. Here is where I started and where I am today:
I have taken time to study, understand and know what works for me. And believe me when I say this has been the easiest way for me to lose weight. It now feels to me like the weight loss is just a benefit of eating this way as is everything else that goes along with it. This has gone from a weight loss goal to a betterment goal. At 54, I feel like I owe it to myself and my family to be a healthy, active person and this lifestyle is exactly what I was looking for.
I”m not saying there have been challenges, but even those have not hampered me. I have allowed myself to enjoy some desserts, continue having my evening cocktails (I’ll work on those eventually!) and those challenges seem to be going away the longer I do this.
